About The Author
Alexandra Alt is a YA author living and working on Kaurna land (Adelaide). Her debut YA novel Promise was released in July 2019 (Scholastic Australia). Promise, set during World War 2 and its immediate aftermath, was longlisted for the Book Links Award for Children’s Historical Fiction in 2021. It received much praise from reviewers and is regularly included in World War 2 reading lists and book recommendations for teenagers. Promise is also a valuable addition to World War 2 teaching material.
Alexandra grew up in Germany and lived in Berlin for several years before migrating to Australia in the 1990s. Her writing is inspired by the stories she grew up with and her time living in Berlin. Alexandra has worked as a translator and tutor but now writes full time. A strong believer in the importance of historical accuracy, she often gets lost in research. Alexandra is currently working on her second YA novel.
